Who We Are
In the United States, and probably anywhere in the world, one's relationship to the outdoors is always unique based on one's upbringing, culture and expectations of what the spending time in the great outdoors is like and how the experience of being outdoors shapes you.
For some, it's the struggle, the love of pushing themselves to make do with little, and endure what they must. For other's it's just the opposite. A flushing toilet and hot water on tap must never to be too far away. Both of these are fine in their own right, but we like to experience it a little different. We think you would too....

We want you to surround yourself with nature in comfort.
We want to serve the alternate living outdoor lifestyle... Call yourselves what you will, front-country campers, car campers, glampers, converted van dwellers, tiny-house owners... We're here for all of you plus outdoor festival lovers, yurt-dwellers, and anyone that wants to make the outdoors their living room. However you like to get outside and find yourself, we'd like to assist you.
At The Recreation Co., our aim is to bring you the best available modern outdoor equipment. The gear we have probably won't win any awards for being the lightest, fastest thing out there, but you will love to use it and spend time with it. We're inspired more by how small the items carbon footprint is and how long it will last, and if it is indeed the best solution of comfort living outside (or just barely inside).
We have a different way of looking at the outdoors, and we'd like to share that vision with you. We're true to our statement that we would love to show you the best in modern outdoor gear that you would love to use for a lifetime (because it will last that long) and we want to show you the outdoor spaces (and places) that take your breath away!
The Recreation Company is based in Oregon. The Pacific Northwest is a little different than many places in the county. Our summers don't get extremely hot, and our winters are mostly mild, meaning most of our precipitation falls as gentle rain. It's a place of extreme natural beauty, while remaining comfortable for most of the year (even if it's sometimes a bit damp). These elements bring an euphoric sense of peace to anyone that can take the time to feel it. In this regard, we want to encourage you to take as long as you need to regrow as a person by spending time in the outdoors. Please take a look around an see if anything we offer will aid in that experience.
For us, “Recreation” has two meanings... the leisure time and this regrowth. Enjoy it.
